A great number of children study at the childcare resource center in Ambalantota which is maintained by the Malalasekera Foundation. This was established in 2014 under the full intervention and supervision of our Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ashan Malalasekera following the concept of the Chairman of our Foundation, Mr. Vijaya Malalasekera. At present, around 102 children follow free classes in English, Maths, Sinhala and scholarship subjects. Children from this difficult area have shown great achievements at the scholarship examination this year and the most notable was Miss Daksha Uththareethara who obtained 176 marks. The centre conducts an international English course at present. All these course are available for free and this English course which costs highly elsewhere is conducted by the International Institute of Music, Speech and Drama (IIMSD) as one of their Corporate Social Responsibility projects. Annual evaluation tests of this course were held recently.
